Sheer Confidence
August 16, 2017Denim has been HUGE this summer, especially high rise, loose fitting jeans...with a cuff too, of course. White sneakers and mesh shirts have also made a come-back this summer. Bold looks like these can really foster your confidence and make you feel great! Of course clothes you feel great in can boost your confidence, but there's also much more to it. Scroll to the bottom of this post for 5 ways to boost your confidence and to shop my look.
For this shoot I had the pleasure of working with photographer Christopher Mendoza. He was incredible to work with and was really able to capture the detail of my outfit. One of my favorite things about mesh shirts is that you get to showcase not only the details on the shirt (for example, the black flowers), but also the details you wear under it. I paired this top with a floral lace bustier and you were still able to see the careful detail of the bustier underneath the mesh.
5 Tips on How to Feel More Confident
1. Make a list of the things you like about yourself.
Although this sounds silly, it's easy to go through a bad say without thinking of all the great things you have going for yourself and your life. Whether you write it down or just make a mental note, remember the good.
2. Stand up straight and radiate positive body language
Many studies were conducted on this topic by Harvard Social Psychologist, Amy Cuddy (read here). She talks about the connection between positive body language and confidence.
3. Prepare yourself for the day the night before.
When I wake up in the morning after a good night's sleep and find my clothes laid out and my bag ready to go for the day, I feel prepared and confident of what's to come.
4. Set small goals -- and achieve them.
Sometimes we just need to give ourselves a pat on the back. Whether you've been wanting to deep clean your closet for months, or you just want to go a week with making sure you get 8 hours of sleep, set an achievable goal and go for it.
5. Be active
Whether it's going to the gym, or just taking a walk around the neighborhood, sometimes we need to do something that will clear our head. Also, as many people know, as you exercise your brain produces endorphins. Endorphins actually boost your mood and give you a "general sense of well-being" (read more).
